Researching Native American Ancestors (Monthly Program)

7:15 pm: Program - One of our members had the privilege to research an Native American Great Grandfather whom survived the Wounded Knee massacre. Ann Juette will share with us her steps in researching and how she found this information from a personal request. Plese feel free to invite other Native Americans that would like to learn how to trace their ancestors also. This will be a informative program for all. Guest are Welcome!

7:15 pm: Program - Roger Bohls, one of our members and a genealogist, helped with a personal request to do some research for their ancestor. He spent most of his time in Deadwood and learned how and where to go about doing this efficiently. He will share his knowledge and experience so that we will have a easier time researching in Deadwood. We are very happy to have Roger's help. Guests are welcome!

Homestead Act (Monthly Program)
South Canyon Lutheran Church, 700 S 44th St, Rapid City, SD
6:30 pm: Mix and mingle;
7:00 pm: Short member meeting
7:15 pm: Program: John Rankin, one of our members, will be presenting the Homestead Act of 1862 for us. This Act was a law that allowed citizens to claim 160 acres of public Land to live on and improve. Abraham Lincoln signed this into law during the Civil War.
We will be able to learn how to find out if our ancestors were part of this historic ACT!

Ann Juette's Grandmother was a Harvey Girl so we will have an amazing personal look at the Harvey Girls. I am so very excited to have history like this told personally to us.
